Update

Hola Todos!

A lot has transpired since I lasted updated our blog; including my move to Utah, our wedding, honeymoon, and first half of our semester.

As of the first of this month we have been married two months, it still seems like a very short time and we are still finding out a lot about each other that we didn't know before. But it has been great, if I was scared of getting married before, I can honestly say now it was the best decision I made.

Justin has been busy with work and school. At the beginning of the semester he got a job as a statics TA which involves a lot of grading and tutoring hours so that is keeping him busy. on top of that he is kept busy with ROTC. We hope this summer he will get a spot at field training and secure his spot in the Air Force. He finds out this month! Yikes!

I have been busy with school. I am in the middle of deciding whether to graduate and get a masters in public Health or to do the nursing route with the eventual plan being med school or Public health. Im still looking for a job here in provo which is hard since I am gone to Salt Lake City a lot. But I have a few interviews coming up, hopefully there is something there.

Here are some pictures of our activities the last couple of months (please excuse all the pictures):
Justin came to visit me in Richmond... He loved the giant world statue

About 2 hours from home our tire blew out... Luckily for my mom and I Justin was there to help.

There was use trying to save the tire....
Hard to see but my mom with all my belongings on the side of the highway. We had to unload the car to get to the spare.

To top off a wonderful end to finals, my mom will coming out on Wednesday and Justin on Thursday. I am so excited to see them both and show them all the places and people I love in Virginia.  I am so excited to se my mommy and take tons of pictures!

These guys in particular are awesome missionaries in my ward! Love them!
I spent Thanksgiving at home for the first time in 3 years.  I had some good times with my family, and  it was so nice to be home for thanksgiving! There was also a bridal shower thrown by a couple of women in my home ward. I am just so thankful to have my family and a great home ward. And on black friday we decided to got shopping at 4AM for his suit for the wedding. It was tremendous fun.

We're engaged!!

Hello all!

So as I am sure you have all heard from facebook and other sources, Justin Schoof and I are engaged!!! I must admit that this has been in the works for about a month. As things progressed this semester and after lots of prayer on both sides, we decided that we wanted to be together forever!  However, as of Friday November 10th, I am engaged. Justin is wonderful and I could not be happier. This weekend was Justin’s Air Force ROTC ball, and we decided this summer that I would come out and be his date. I knew he was going to propose this weekend, but I was under the impression that the ring was late and quote, “theoretically… it might not happen” So of course I was not expecting it when I got off the plane

I love him! And the ring is beautiful and everything I could have ever wanted! Special thanks to Eric, Jake, Brad, and Eddie for holding the signs!

I had to record the wonderful things that we did together.
1)   We went to justin’s military ball. Of course in typical "Rochelle fashion" I was behind schedule, and of course being military we had to be on time for the receiving line. I was so nervous and full of awkward moments. Justin and I were required to go through a receiving line prior to the dance. The powerpoint we were sent said to “introduce yourself to the host with rank or name (i.e. Col Johnson and ms. Smith)” so that's what I did! I guess the host did not get the memo because when I said “Ms. Martinez-Garcia” he paused turned to the guest of honor and said “Martina?” alter stumbling for a moment Justin finally said “Rochelle” … gah I felt so silly! But Justin made me feel like a princess all night!

Justin and I before the ball!
2)   I Found my wedding dress! My mom, Tia Mary, and close family friend Sylvia took a quick road trip up to Utah to help me find a dress, since the wedding is in December we don't have much time and finding a modest dress in New Mexico or Virginia is very hard. I have never dreamed about my wedding or flowers or anything like that, so I was so lost. Luckily, we only had to go to one place to find the dress. I wont say anything more about it except its a bit unconventional and not a typical wedding dress, but for my style it is absolutely perfect!
3)
W We also took engagement photos! It was so much fun, Justin and I went to DI and found some clothing for the pictures. Special thanks to his roommate Jace! He did an amazing job! Here are some of the ones I thought were kinda cute!

4)
I think that is all the “big stuff” but we have had a great time just being together! We went to DI and found some costumes for our Pictures, we ate pupusas, we went grocery Shopping, and make ice cream. I got to choose the flavor :Strawberry Banana Browne
Justin and his Amazing roommates loved it!!! So great!

It was so good! Justin has some skills making ice cream for frozen yogurt! YUM!! Cant wait to make more with him.

It was a great introduction to my new life in Utah. I cant wait to meet all of Justin's friends and get to know other people.

So now is the production of a wedding, Justin and I are getting married December 30th in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple and We are so happy!

So after ONE POST on my new blog it has become “Jusitn and Rochelle” YAY!!!

Some Background

For two more months I am a student at the University of Richmond. Let me start off by saying, it is a wonderful school. The academics are high quality and the professors are well educated and willing to help. However, socially it can be a bit of a challenge. Well... at least for a Mormon. I do have friend here, but many prefer to spend their nights partying. I don't know about you but being DD is not my idea of fun.  Hence the desire to transfer schools. Yes, it is of my own volition that I am traveling across the country to start a new life. I am actually really excited! That is, when I am not terrified.

But do not fear, I will not be completely friendless. I have a wonderful boyfriend who goes to school at BYU about an hour away. (For the record he is NOT the reason I am moving) We have been dating since he got off his mission to Finland in July and I am very much in love with him.
Isn't he a cute?!

Utah will be a huge change for me. I grew up in a wonderful ward! But from pre-school to high school I was the only Mormon around. In Utah I will have professors who understand not wanting to watch rated R movies for class projects. (Im sure all non mormons reading this think I am crazy right now) and friend who are mormon.

But I am also really scared.  I have this pre-conceived notion that Mormons in Utah are different from anywhere else a bit more... well I'm not sure but different. Different in a good way! Im just hoping that I fit in. Well we shall see!

This thursday I will be going to Utah for the second time in my life. Justin is having a military ball and I am his date! Super excited!
